Covering the entire sea space between Liguria, Elba and Corsica and founded in 1993 between Italy, France and the Principality of Monaco, the “Cetacean Sanctuary” protects the over 2000 cetaceans belonging to eight different species which populate the Ligurian Sea during the Summer season.
Opened in 1910 by its founder, Prince Albert I, this exceptional museum is dedicated to all the sea disciplines and hosts many species of preserved sea animals as well as ships and equipment used by the pioneers of ocean explorations. The rarest species of multi-color fish, coming from the farthest seas, leap across 90 tanks filled with sea water.
